Jensen Huang Says Nvidia Has No Alternatives to TSMC
Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, has confirmed the company’s strong commitment to its partnership with TSMC, the world leader in semiconductor manufacturing. Huang pointed out that Nvidia has no suitable alternatives to TSMC for advanced chip production.
No Alternatives to TSMC
Speaking during a press conference at the global GTC event in Taipei, Taiwan, Huang revealed that Nvidia’s semiconductor supply chain will fully depend on TSMC in the near future. He also explained that potential alternatives like Samsung or Intel have not worked out for Nvidia.
When asked if Nvidia would consider any other partners for semiconductor production, especially in the United States, Huang stated, “I’m sorry we don’t have any other choice at the moment,” confirming that TSMC remains Nvidia’s sole partner.
Huang also highlighted that one of the main reasons Nvidia has achieved its current success is because the company has been able to challenge Moore’s Law. This has been possible through advanced technologies like CoWoS from TSMC, which allows chips to be stacked horizontally, reducing the overall space and boosting data transfer speed.
Nvidia’s Close Relationship with TSMC
While Nvidia has worked with Samsung and Intel on advanced packaging, no new agreements have been reached with these companies so far. On the other hand, Nvidia has become a major partner for TSMC, surpassing even Apple in terms of the value of orders placed with the Taiwanese giant.
Moreover, Nvidia has played a significant role in helping TSMC expand its operations in the United States, where the company is a key client for TSMC’s regional operations.
It seems that Nvidia’s partnership with TSMC will continue for a long time, as Huang confirmed in his keynote at Computex 2025. As TSMC continues its growth in the United States, Nvidia will be less affected by geopolitical uncertainties and tariff issues.
