Nintendo Switch 2 to Support Regular USB Mice With Select Games
The new Nintendo Switch 2 will support regular USB mice for certain games. This information was shared by Michi Ryu, the producer of Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening Complete Edition, during a live stream by Koei Tecmo where they discussed the game’s features.
This is an added option to the much-talked-about mouse mode of Joy-Con 2. Anyone who owns a USB mouse can simply plug it into the new console and it will work right away, without needing any special software or installations.
How USB Mouse Support Works
When you connect a USB mouse, a message will appear on the top left corner of the screen, showing that the device is connected. Once the mouse is connected, it takes priority over the Joy-Con 2 controllers. This makes it clear that the new system can work seamlessly with a standard mouse.
Now, the big question is how many games will support USB mice. Since the USB mouse support works at the system level, it’s likely that all games that use the Joy-Con 2 in mouse mode will automatically accept this new option.
The appearance of various adapters for the Nintendo Switch 2 mouse mode makes it clear that using the console’s controllers in this way might not be the most comfortable. This is why there’s a need for some kind of physical support to improve the experience.
The ability to use a regular USB mouse is a great extra option for players who prefer a more precise and comfortable setup, especially for more serious gaming experiences.
