Nintendo Switch 2 Partners with Samsung for Chip Production, OLED Model Possible
According to reports from Bloomberg, Nintendo has reached out to Samsung to help with the production of chips for the Switch 2. This partnership may also lead to a future OLED model of the console, with screens produced by Samsung.
Nintendo’s goal is to sell more than 20 million Switch 2 units by March 2026. However, there may be challenges in production that could impact supply management, especially as issues have already appeared during the launch in Japan.
To address this, Nintendo has asked Samsung to create the NVIDIA 8-nanometer chipset that will power the new console. This follows their successful work on the original Nintendo Switch. The current System on Chip (SoC) is also optimized for Samsung’s production systems, making this partnership even more strategic.
Potential for an OLED Model of the Switch 2
Although Nintendo says that switching back to an LCD screen for the Switch 2 is not a downgrade, many believe that a future OLED model will be released. Those who have already tested the console have confirmed the high quality of the display, but it’s clear that an OLED version will likely arrive in stores soon, with Samsung likely handling the display.
Nintendo seems focused on making Switch 2 the best-selling console ever at launch. This ambitious goal will require close coordination and support from companies like Foxconn for assembly.
