Many YouTubers and Websites Accuse Nvidia of Trying to Manipulate Reviews of the GeForce RTX 5060
Accusations against Nvidia are growing that the company tried to manipulate the reviews of its new GeForce RTX 5060 graphics card. This might have been an attempt to avoid the negative reviews that the RTX 4060 received when it was first released.
The issue began with the popular YouTube channel GamersNexus, a big name in the USA hardware scene. Other well-known sources like VideoCardz, Hardware Unboxed, GameStar.de, and Digital Foundry soon confirmed these accusations.
What Did Nvidia Do?
According to reports, Nvidia launched the RTX 5060 on May 19, a time when most reviewers were attending the Computex event in Taipei, Taiwan, far away from their usual testing labs. Even those reviewers who got the RTX 5060 before the launch couldn’t properly test it because Nvidia did not send them updated drivers with full support.
Only a few carefully chosen reviewers were given access to these drivers. These reviewers had to sign very strict agreements. They were allowed to test only five games, all at 1080p resolution with fixed graphics settings. Also, comparisons could be made only with two older GPUs: the RTX 3060 and the RTX 2060 Super. The RTX 4060 was not allowed in these tests.
Threats and Limited Testing
GamersNexus also mentioned that Nvidia threatened some reviewers. They warned that if the reviewers refused to publish Nvidia’s comparison charts, which many considered unreliable, they might lose future chances to work with Nvidia or take part in interviews. These charts claimed that the RTX 5060’s MFG technology could produce more frames than older GPUs without this technology.
Later reviews often showed that the RTX 5060 struggles to outperform the RTX 3060 Ti, which is four years older, and even the RTX 3070, also four years old.
So far, Nvidia has not made any official statement about these accusations. We will share any official comments when they become available.
