Energenie Smart Home Power and Heating Upgrade Review

How Much Does it Cost?

You don’t need the whole setup if you don’t want it. However, you absolutely will need an Energenie Hub for anything from the plugs to the radiator valves. You only need one hub though, even if you have dozens of Energenie products to pair with it. There are lots of deals and bundles, some include the hub, others don’t, but you can buy that separately.

This is the best way to shop for Energenie products, as you can find more details and bundles for you to explore. There’s a huge range of plugs, wall sockets, switches and sensors to pick from. Check them all our here!

Overview

I hope the folks at Energenie aren’t too disappointed with my results here today. I told them I would do this huge project showing how you could save money on your bills and how efficient it all is. It should pay for its self in “X” years type thing. I haven’t done that, because I didn’t factor in that I am always at home working, and so is my partner. For those who have “leave the house” jobs, though, I think it’s clear that you will reap more benefits that I am in that regard. That’s not to say these haven’t improved my quality of life though. For that alone, I would still use all of these products myself… in fact, I am, so that’s something.

Easy to Use

By far the most impressive thing here is just how easy everything is to deploy. Especially the radiator valves and the plugs. When it comes to buying “smart” equipped home devices, they can be quite expensive. However, retrofitting them like this is cheap, quick, easy and the results can be just as fantastic as tailor made smart solutions.

Affordable

The radiator valves are a bit expensive, but honestly, I think they bring the most value to the smart home environment. It’s a simple bit of automation, but you’re paying for a device that’s wireless, has to be rated to work with radiators, has a powerful motor built into them, and overall, I think they’re worth every penny. The plugs are stupidly cheap, it would be rude not to buy a bunch of them and figure out how many cool things you could do with them. The thermostat is great value for what it is also, and if you can wire a plug, you can easily install it yourself too, saving money on a professional installation.

Expansion

Finally, the range of Energenie products is impressive. So long as they’re part of the “MIHome” range, they’re all smart home compatible and can be paired to work with each other. What’s most important though is that with Alexa and IFTTT support, you can pair them with thousands of other smart home applications and devices with ease. It’s a cliche, but the only limit is your imagination, and to some extent, the depth of your wallet.
